Shoebuy was launched in 2000 and is one of the largest online retailers in the world of footwear and related apparel and accessories.
In 2006, Shoebuy was acquired by IAC/InterActiveCorp (also known as IAC) – an American media and Internet company, with over 150 brands across 100 countries.
Summary
It’s easy to see why shoebuy.com is one of the world’s leading online shoe stores and comes highly recommended by stayhomeshopping.com.
Product Range
Shoebuy offers a staggering 1,000,000 plus products from over 1250 different manufacturers.
Brands sold include;
Aerosoles, Allen-Edmonds, Bass, Bostonian, Brooks, Bruno Magli, Clarks, Crocs, Dr. Martens, Easy Spirit, ECCO, Florsheim, Franco Sarto, Hush Puppies, Johnston & Murphy, Keds, K-Swiss, Mephisto, Merrell, Naturalizer, New Balance, Patagonia, PUMA, Reebok, Rockport, Samsonite, Saucony, Sebago, Skechers, Sperry Top-Sider, Stride Rite, Stuart Weitzman, Timberland, and many more.
Website
Shoebuy.com attracts more than 5 million viewers each month, ranking it within the top 2000 sites in the US and top 5000 in the world.
It’s a busy website (due undoubtedly to its large product range) and while not particularly aesthetic or innovative, offers the standard features commensurate with such a large shopping site. These features include customer product reviews, multiple product photos and angles (though notably, there is no ‘zoom’ function) and a simple, clear, checkout procedure.
Shoebuy.com probably has perhaps the most comprehensive search feature of any shopping site we’ve reviewed. Users can search not only on the basis of gender/age, brand and category (e.g. athletic, boot, casual etc) but on shoe width, ‘occasion’ and a whole host of other variables (e.g. origin, heel, color, price range and more) accessible through the ‘advanced search’ feature.
The ability to search over such a wide set of variables certainly reinforces the site’s claim to be the “World’s Largest Site for Shoes”.
Rewards program
Shoebuy Rewards is a good example of a membership rewards program that genuinely rewards and encourages its customers and their friends to return to the site, and is simultaneously easy to understand, apply and redeem points.
After registering online for free, customers will receive 1 point per dollar spent. 200 points is then redeemable for $10 credit. This represents an effective cash-back of 5%.
There are also other ways to earn points, and this is what makes this program so good. Firstly, there’s a 100 point enrolling bonus. After that, well … Refer a friend? 200 points. Link Facebook and Twitter? 20 points each. Write a review? 10 points. You can see how you could easily rack the points up quickly.
On the flip-side, points are only valid for 12 months, and the minimum redeemable amount of points is 200.
This means you’ll need to keep coming back regularly to take full advantage of the program (which is what they’re rewarding, after all), and, after the original 100 point enrolment bonus, you’ll need to spend $200 to get anything back at all the next time.
This may represent a challenge for some, but if you’re shopping on behalf of your family then this should be much easier to navigate.
Customer Service and Returns
shoebuy.com offer 60 days returns with free shipping (US only) with a 90 day return for purchases made between November 1 and January 1.
A customer service hotline operates 7 days/week between 8am and midnight (ET).
Shipping
Standard ground shipping within the US is FREE with no minimum purchase required. Expedited deliveries and international addresses will incur a charge.
I’ve shopped exclusively on this site for many years and love the variety of shoes offered and the loyalty points and rewards are good too. I’ve referred friends and family there. And I get to stock up when they have their sales. It’s a great deal, for me, because I shop for a children’s home and with all the kids that come through, it helps on pricing and variety.
